thread184-185862: NFPA 12 . CO2 quantity
How to calculate no. of nozzles and nozzle dia for a Gas Turbine Fire-fighting system incorporating CO2 stored in a pressurized tank (22 kg/cm2 g) and discharging for an initial period of 1 minute and later for 2-3 minutes extended discharge?

Thanks.

RE: How to calculate no. of nozzles and nozzle dia for a Gas Turbine Fire-fighting system incorporating

@ hpcatpru (Chemical) (OP)

you are designing as per NFPA or any other code?
there is guideline given in NFPA12 (1-10.5)

for no of nozzles - distribute the nozzles by gap of 6m.
and then divide the flow for each nozzle
then do pipe size.

for nozzle orifice size - you know the flow thru each nozzle kg/min.mm2
so , kg/min div by kg/min.mm2 give mm2 (area) match it with table 1.10.4.4 and come out with orifice dia and code.

hope it will help u.

Appreciate your prompt guidance rit326.

Actually, i am not getting hold of the NFPA code 12, can u please share the same?
I am a Chem Engg, and was reviewing the drawings of our CPP GT fire fighting system which is incorporating pressurized CO2.

Kind regards.
