Rollover Highlight in NX9

Rollover Highlight in NX9

Rollover Highlight in NX9

(OP)
I have had to shut off my rollover highlighting
I also noticed this on one of the viewer systems as well

When you rollover an object and it starts to highlight, everything locks up for about 20 to 30 seconds, then it highlights and you can move your mouse again until the next block starts to highlight, then it locks up again, and again, etc

Is there something wrong with the OOTB setup?

RE: Rollover Highlight in NX9

Hi, are you rolling over something particuarly complex, or simple?

If its a complex part or assembly, it's worth making sure you've got hidden edge highlight and selection switched OFF.

Its not too complex, but its a big assembly

But I've been working on this file for months, and it just started happening yesterday---after NX9 install

Have you updated your display drivers? Prior to installing NX 9.0, what version of NX were you running?

I would try what John suggested - out of date display drivers are usually the culprit for the majority of graphics anomalies I've encountered over the years, especially after migrating to a newer version of NX.

RE: Rollover Highlight in NX9

Looking at the GTAC certified drivers for a Dell Precision 'T' workstation (but not knowing your OS), you seem to be ahead of what is certified to work with NX.

Here is what they have listed:

1. Dell Precision T workstation Win7 OS NVIDIA Quadro OEM supported with driver version 331.65
2. Dell Precision T workstation Win8/8.1 OS NVIDIA Quadro OEM supported with driver version 331.65 with a note for Win8/8.1*
3. Dell Precision T workstation LINUX OS NVIDIA Quadro STD supported with driver version 319.32

*NOTE: Windows 8 support policy varies with vendor. Many systems, while they may run Windows 8, are not supported by the OEM due to a lack of testing or drivers. Check with your vendor before deploying Windows 8 to ensure your systems are supported.
Some newer systems, such as the Z1G2 only support Windows 8.1

I personally would uninstall the existing graphics driver and go with whatever matches your hardware configuration. I had issues in the past with using a non-certified driver (it just happened to be the exact same issue you're having but with NX7.5) and rolling the driver back to what was certified fixed my problem. Not saying it's the cure, but for no longer than it takes, I'd give that a shot if you cannot find a visualization preference or performance setting somewhere that is different than what you had set for NX8.5 - assuming, of course that you can recall or had record of what those settings were for NX8.5.

Looks like it's time to call GTAC.

RE: Rollover Highlight in NX9

(Just in case this has been overlooked...)

Has "Preferences", visualization performance, General (tab), Evaluate graphics performance" been executed in NX9 by the current user?

Even if the graphics card and driver are unchanged from NX 8.5 the adjustments that the optimize can provide are not transferred from NX 8.5 to NX 9 (assuming the optimization was performed for NX 8.5). The utility needs to be rerun anytime the Card or driver or NX major version is changed.

I will try that John, I have not run it

I have been on the phone with Siemens and we may have narrowed this down to an error in the code

If we exit out of ANT, the behavior stops, as soon as you click the tab to turn ANT back on, it starts again

I will keep you posted.

RE: Rollover Highlight in NX9

Did you try deleting the windows registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\NX\8.5?
In lots of cases, this has helped me. Especially in cases, where yesterday NX was working OK, but today I have problems.

The funniest problem, solved with this option was several years ago in solid edge. When I opened SE, all the icons were replaced with smileys. smile

GTAC has investigated and found this to be a "Serious" problem and have converted it to a PR

Just for your information if you need to follow this one
