Easy question about a *Dload

Easy question about a *Dload

Easy question about a *Dload

(OP)
Hi gents,

I have a quick question as I am starting to doubt myself. I have a download which I am increasing over the space of 3 steps by using the op=mod card for the dload like so;

Step 1:
*dload, op=mod
nodes, pz, -2000
Step 2:
*dload, op=mod
nodes, pz, -9000
Step 3:
*dload, op=mod
nodes, pz, -9000

If my understanding is right, by the 4th step the dload should have reached a magnitude of 20kN/m. Is this correct ?

RE: Easy question about a *Dload

I believe the magnitude would be 9000 in the last step. The mod doesn't add the load to the existing load. It modifies the load to be what you want by the end of the step. So for step 2, it starts out with a magnitude of 2000, and then ramps from 2000 to 9000 over the course of the analysis step. If you used OP=NEW, it would remove the 2000 load, and ramp from 0 load to 9000.
