Is anyone here a Bombardier Transport Supplier? We do the train maintenance here and need access to the CATIA files occasionally so that we
can make field modifications. Does anyone know where to start the process? What is involved in getting setup correctly?

Thank you,

Mark

RE: Bombardier Transport

What functionality do you require when accessing the native CATIA files? If the CATIA files are provided by Bombardier engineering, they will likely be from a configuration controlled database. And the files will be locked to prevent you from modifying them. What you will end up with is basically the same as a .stp format. An isolated solid model that you can add or subtract features to, but you cannot modify the original form of. If your company is required to engineer maintenance equipment that must interface with Bombardier products, then Bombardier should be quite willing to supply you with any digital definition of their products you require. And they should also create a process for providing you updated models when they make a change to their products. It's a fundamental part of the ISO quality control process.

RE: Bombardier Transport

surley you will need to go to bombedier as the design authority for them to approve anything or is it just visual?

I need access to assemblies, parts and 2D drawings. I don't really need to make changes to the native
data. I want to download the assembly and then introduce upgrades unique to our company. I'm fine with
STEP or IGS like data. I'm trying to make a case for getting the files as it's really difficult to create
designs when I can't check for clearances etc...

I worked at many automotive and aerospace suppliers before and they all were setup with Full PLM access to the OEM data, Using Enovia or TeamCenter.
I just need some direction on who to approach and what to ask for.

thank you,

Mark
