Dimension question

Dimension question

Dimension question

(OP)
Hi,

I have multiple views in my drawing and the dimensions shown are the model dimensions not ones I created.

The front view has a counter bored hole and I have added the counter bore symbol to the dimension.

I have another view, a section view and the dimension for the depth is shown.

I want to be able to take the depth dimension from the section view and add it to the dimension with the counter bore symbol on the front view so any future changes I make to the depth it will automatically update in the counter bore callout on the front view.

Sorry for so many words to get this out.

RE: Dimension question

If you used the hole wizard to create the counter bored hole, use the hole callout tool to dimension the hole. It will automatically display the symbol, as well as the diameter & depth and will update should you change the hole.

RE: Dimension question

Jeff,
The Hole Callout tool will work even if the counterbore was not created with the Hole Wizard.

RE: Dimension question

CBL,
If you create the counterbored hole as two cuts, the callout tool will recognize it correctly? I didn't realize that. I can't recall the last time I created a hole without using the hole wizard, so I've never experienced that.

Yes, but the Hole Callout has to be applied to the counterbore, not the thru hole.

RE: Dimension question

Even if you don't use the Hole Wizard at all, you can use the Hole Callout tool.

RE: Dimension question

I agree use the Hole Wizard and use "Model Items" to dimension the hole and add the hole wizard info.
