Abaqus Explicit part rotation and temperature information

Abaqus Explicit part rotation and temperature information

(OP)
Hi All

There are two questions please

1) I have two Abaqus Explicit v6.12-2 simulations where i am trying to cut a workpiece. One is turning and the other is drilling and as their names suggest, in turning the workpiece is rotating and the cutter comes in contact axially in the Z axis whereas in drilling, the rotating drill comes in contact with the workpiece axially in the Y axis direction. The problem i am having in both is, while the rotating part keeps on rotating, it looses its rotation axis as soon as it comes in contact with the cutter. i.e. in turning, the workpiece while rotating, starts to move in the Y direction and in drilling the drill starts to wobble on its own axis of movement which is the Y axis. I can see the cutting operation and the material elimination.

Please can anyone help me on how to keep the body rotating strictly on its own axis i.e. no wobbles and no translational movements furing the cutting operation. FYI, for turning I am using the kinematic tie constraints on a roung workpice with the control point being the reference point at the centre, and for drilling i am using the rigid body tie constraint on the drill bit with the reference point being at the tip of the drill side which goes in. In Both I am using the Angular/Linear Velocity BC to rotate and translate the part.

2) During cutting how to see the temperature dofs? i have selected the Temperature-Displacement/Explicit mode and defined the thermal contact conductance between the contacting surfaces, but i dont get anything? what i am doing wrong?

Any answers will be highly appreciated.

Regards
