Beam Connection

Beam Connection

Beam Connection

(OP)

Hi all,

i have a steel end connection as shown in attached figure.

can anyone advice how to proceeed.Link

two beams (beam 1 and beam 2) are welded together with a end plate and the angle between the members varies 45-90 degrees. and both beams have end moments and axial force and shear force..)

thanks in advance

regards
akhilLink

RE: Beam Connection

I would consider it as three connections, i.e. Beam 1, Beam 2, and the combination of the two. Depending on the magnitude of moment in Beam 2, you may need to add welded stiffeners in Beam 1 to transmit the flange forces.

Thanks for your reply,

have got any idea for the design of combination of two beams.

Can anyone elaborate the design steps for theses kind of connection .
it will be great if you share any related comments

RE: Beam Connection

I don't think you are going to find anyone who is going to walk you through the process. The AISC does have Design Guide 4 Design of Extended End Plate Connections. You may find some helpful information there for the end plate. Otherwise you may be on your own.
