Full Water Test Procedure

Full Water Test Procedure

(OP)
hello, i'm newbie in here

i want to know how long the time needed for water filling, hydrostatic test, and pneumatic water test for Ammonia Tank with capacity 20.000 MT. if we use 6" pipe for filling the tank with water.

Thank you

RE: Full Water Test Procedure

You might be new, but you should have worked out you need to do some thinking yourself first. What is the volume? 20000 MT ammonia sounds like about 30,000+ cubic metres to me. It will take you a looooong time with only a 6" pipe. How long - Depends on your flow rate. Testing time - Depends on your code and test spec

A reasonable flow rate in a 6" pipe(3m/sec) gives a flow of about 200m3/hr, so about 150 hrs +/-a couple of days

Pretty vague question so a pretty vague answer.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

RE: Full Water Test Procedure

ASME Sect VIII pressure vessel Code specifies "10-minutes at a minimum". A lot of owners want longer, sometimes 1-hour. Sometimes a [genius] engineer wants 8 or even 24 hours on a vessel.
