3d mesh

3d mesh

(OP)
HI

I wanted to know if you can extrude 2d mesh in width direction to create 3d models in abaqus CAE? I want to import a 2d mesh from a model i had done and wanted to know if i could extrude that 2d mesh to create 3d model?

Thank you

RE: 3d mesh

I've seen it done before but only by using Fortran code to generate an inp file using the mesh from the 2D definition of elements and nodes.

Thank you for the reply. I am trying to mesh a crack tip in a 3d modeling. I want to specify the number of elements, the shape etc. Which do you think is the best way to do that.

Thank you

RE: 3d mesh

If you initially modelled it in 2D then why not just model it in 3D using CAE. It sounds like it's a simple swept mesh.
