Rubber Expansion Joint
Rubber Expansion Joint
(OP)
Hi all,
I have performed a stress analysis of a progressive cavity pump skid. The allowable loads of the pump are very low (about 500N in all directions). We have ordered rubber expansion joints for the suction and discharge of the pump. The problem is that the thrust force of the joint exceed considerably the allowable load. the supplier has proposed expansion joints with rods. Is this enough to control the thrust forces.
Thanks!

RE: Rubber Expansion Joint
Beware a few more things:
1) What happens to the pressure thrust if the joint compresses off the tie rod nut?
2) The pump always sees some pressure thrust. What pressure thrust does the joint add?
