Coupled thermo-mechanical analysis of composite using tie-constraint

(OP)
I am carrying out a thermo-mechanical analysis on a two-phase material. The interface between the two phases is tied together using a tie-constraint to allow stress continuity. Both phases have different thermal and mechanical materials.

I want to cool the material at the left side by selecting all the nodes (left side) and assigning a temperature gradient (please, see attached image). When I select the nodes, I noticed that one of the nodes with the tie constraint is selected and when I try to run the analysis, I get this error:

“2 *TIE dependent nodes have specified boundary conditions. Their associated *TIE independent nodes have, however, conflicting boundary conditions. Please resolve these conflicting boundary conditions. The *TIE dependent and independent nodes have been identified in node set WarnNodeOverconBoundTieInc.”

I need some help to get around this problem.

The geometry in the attached image is for illustrative purposes only, I’ll need to run this type of analysis on significantly more complex geometry, so dealing with individual nodes is not an option.

In the set of nodes that form the tied surfaces, deselect the node that is also restrained. The message you get appears to be a warning, however, and the job will probably still run.
