Impact load

Impact load

(OP)
we are designing a generator platform. According to the code, the weight of generator will be increased by 20% or 50% to consider its vibration.
If there are vibration isolators under the generator, can we reduce that impact load? do we have any design guide/reference for that load?

Thanks.

RE: Impact load

I would use the increase even with the isolators. What if those get VE'd out or what if they lock up?

RE: Impact load

Depending on the platform... what will 20% increase really lead to? My experience has been that most of these are so over designed for industrial uses that mine can support way more load than they see.... unless you have a giant generator on a raised high platform
