thread794-204125: Intermediate stiffeners in jacketed vessel ?

Dear All,

I am anwar, static mechanical engineer. I am new member of this forum.
regarding mandeep thread thread794-204125: Intermediate stiffeners in jacketed vessel ? for stiffening ring, I also have same opinion regarding Intermediate stiffening ring of jacketed vessel.

In UG-29 (f) stated that : When closure bars or other rings are attached to both the inner shell and outer jacket of a vessel, with pressure in the space between the jacket and inner shell, this construction has adequate inherent stiffness, and therefore the rules of this paragraph do not apply.

I can understand the reason, because above stiffening ring (as stated in UG-29 (f)) is only experience tensile stress only. therefore requirement of moment inertia is no need to be calculated. Except if shell is have vacuum pressure, combination calculation shall be performed. First we have to calculate required moment inertia subjected to shell vacuum only, then we shall to calculate the ring thickness due to tension stress caused by jacket pressure by using basic mechanical principle.
I was discussed it with my AI and they agree with my opinion.
In case any body have better opinion or experience please share it.
Thank you.

Best regsrds,

Anwar B. Setiawan
