strain gauge advice
strain gauge advice
(OP)
Hello everybody,
I am just for advice from experience on where to purchase some strain gauges.
• I am using them to measure torque on a 1/2” steel shaft. 10-300 in-lbs.
• I need a full bridge due to slightly elevated temperatures. ~150 F
• Unamplified signal into a DAQ system. Maybe a 5V excitation voltage?
• I would greatly prefer wire leads from the gauges (save me from soldering on pads)
I really just wanted to see if anyone has had good/bad experience from different manufactures. In the past I have used Omega. I didn’t love or hate them, the leads were kind of a pain because they were so thin but it worked very well. The 4 week lead time is holding me back from using them at this time, I am looking to buy some sooner rather then later.

Thanks everybody,
Brendan

For something like strain gages, you are probably pretty much at the mercy of the market. Maybe you should find a product you like, and stick with them, so they are inclined to favor you with a few of them, quickly, when you need them.
