Transformer Inrush

(OP)
A supplier tells me that their new 3 MVA substation transformer has in inrush current of 18X FLA. This number looks suspiciously high to me, I am wondering if anyone else has seen this.

RE: Transformer Inrush

With a sufficiently robust source available it certainly isn't out of the question.

RE: Transformer Inrush

not atypical. upto 20-25x is high but still considered ok.

it must be specifically spec'ed for us to design to just 10x.
