NX 8.5 using subtract function
NX 8.5 using subtract function
(OP)
Hello all,
I was wondering how the subtract function works when cutting a ring around a sphere? The trick is, is that the ring needs to be altered 40 degrees in one direction and 20 degrees in another... I have attached a pic of the resulting line. I just don't know how they did it by using the subtract option....

RE: NX 8.5 using subtract function
If you know the axis about which the groove is to be revolved, then create the groove profile on a plane parallel to the axis of revolution and revolve the profile about that axis. Pretty simple, really.
Here's an example in NX8:

NX 8.0.3.4

Intel Xeon 2.53 GHz 6GB RAM

I am not sure if I rotated the angles correctly, but you should get the message. I guessed on the sizes.
Maybe use feature playback to see better how I did it.
I used NX7.5
