(OP)
Hi everyone,

i have been asked to perform weld calculations. I do not have any experience on this subject. Luckily, I have found EN1993-1-8 to guide me, but now I am wondering what the correlation factor beta is exactly. Is it simply the ratio of the weld filler modulus of elasticity to the base material modulus of elasticity? I am asking this because the structure under consideration is made of stainless steel 316L, for which no correlation factors are listed in EN1993-1-8. However, I do have the moduli of elasticity and yield stresses available for the base and filler materials.

Thanks!
Mark
