weld calculations

(OP)
Hi everyone,

i have been asked to perform some weld calculations. However, i am having trouble finding the relevant norms for weldcalculations on stainless steel. In particular, i am looking for values of beta.

I know beta has something to do with the ratio of material strengths, but what is it exactly? in case of welding 2 part of the same material is beta=1?

Thanks! Mark

ok,

i just understood that beta corresponds to the ratio of base material to weld material.

my question remains what beta is exactly, can i calculate it myself?

RE: weld calculations

try the Welding, Bonding & Fastener engineering forum, under structural engineering.
