Strange question....

Strange question....

(OP)
Good morning!

Does anyone know of someone or somewhere that I can get an engineering drawing made online? I have an item that I am building a prototype for and applying for a patent, but I need a drawing made of the item to give to the patent attorney. Not sure how to go about doing this, so I was wondering if anyone does it online like you can have parts made online through emachineshop.com.

Thanks!
DeRoo

RE: Strange question....

Put this in Google for online services: online drafting services
Put this in yellowpages.com for services in your area: drafting services

Have a happy!

Best to you,

Goober Dave

Good info. I hadn't thought about confidentiality, KENAT. I think the patent attorney needs to direct me to someone that does this type of drafting in particular as jhardy1 stated. I was just thinking it needed to be like an assembly drawing that I'm used to seeing in the workplace.

Good thing I asked - thanks again!

RE: Strange question....

Does the patent attorney need a detailed drawing? As others have pointed out that's usually not the case. In most cases a sketch is sufficient. Even a scanned hand sketch. Is the attorney actually proceeding with a filing having already searched existing art to make sure your idea is new art? You may know that you have the option of a provisional filing unless you are looking for international protection. If they are actually filing and your bank account has moocho $$ and they insist on a drawing then a few $$ for a detailed drawing will be minor compared to the attorney and filing fees unless you've made other arrangements with the attorney.

Have Fun!

RE: Strange question....

My patent lawyer took my CAD drawings and had his own draftsperson re-draw them to suit his purposes. The important thing was for me to communicate my designs and concepts, in person sessions with lots of hand sketches, pictures and CAD drawings got me there. Good luck to you!!!
