Help needed to simulate trolley travel on a cable

Help needed to simulate trolley travel on a cable

Help needed to simulate trolley travel on a cable

(OP)
Hi,

I would like to simulate a trolley traveling over a tensioned cable in Abaqus.
I have already solved (kind of) this problem in LS-Dyna using seat belt element for the cable, rigid body for the trolley and a slip-ring between the two.
However, I would like to validate the results from another solver.

Here are the questions:
1. Can I find elements similar to seat belt and slip ring in Abaqus?
2. If not, what is the best way to simulate this interaction?
3. Can I perform this simulation in Abaqus/Standard (Implicit)?

Thanks in advance!!

RE: Help needed to simulate trolley travel on a cable

Hi,

Equvivalent for element seatbelt + slipring from Ls-Dyna in Abaqus is connector element type slipring.
Abaqus Analysis User's Manual, 31.1.5 Connection-type library, Connection-type library, SLIPRING.

I used slipring only in Abaqus/Explicit but as I know you can use it also with Abaqus/Standard.
