Possible to delete Product Outline?

Possible to delete Product Outline?

Possible to delete Product Outline?

NX8.0.3.4 MP9 Win7 x64

Assemblies > Context Control > Product Outline: You can Define or Show, but once you've defined a Product Outline, can you delete it?

We're new to the use of this feature in NX and I'm curious how stable it is. The past has shown us that in many cases, features driven by links to parts in a changing assembly can cause issues with hanging references etc, so I would like to approach this functionality with some caution.

Thanks for your thoughts.

RE: Possible to delete Product Outline?

Yes, it is possible to delete one or more items in the 'Product Outline' representing the Components of your assembly.

Actually thee are two ways to do this. The easiest is, while the 'Porduct Outline' is being displayed, go to Layer Control and you will note that the Product Outline is on a separate layer (this is set-up in Customer Defaults) with the name 'PRODUCT_OUTLINE' and which is set to be 'Visible Only'. Make this layer fully active and simply do a 'Select All' and hit the 'Delete' key.

The alternative it to simply open the Assembly with all the Components loaded and displayed, or at least the ones that you want to remove the 'Product Outline' members for. Now go back into the 'Define Product Outline' function and you will see that the Components which are part of the 'Product Outline' are now highlighted. Simply deslect by hold down the 'Shift' key and selecting those components that you wish for the 'Outline' to be removed or deleted. When finished slecting and you hit the OK button you will be asked if you really want to delete the 'Outlines'.
