Hi,

I am trying to model reinforced concrete(RC)with experimental data in order to capture the strain-hardening effect. My model is a simple concrete block with reinforcing steel (truss elements) embedded inside. The model is subjected to a uniform distributed load and self weight.

When modeling the concrete, I used the damage concrete plasticity model and left the plasticity field with suggested values (31,0.1, 1.16, 0.6667, 0). For the compression field, I entered the experimental values (yield stress and inelastic strain from a RC specimen), and value of (1,0,1,1) for tensile behavior. For the elastic parameter, I simply entered a Young's Modulus of 3440 ksi and Poisson's ratio of 2.

For the steel, I also used the experimental value to model the plastic and elastic parameters.

My question is, am I double counting the stress-strain behavior of the steel by using RC data? I do not have a set of experimental result for the concrete behavior, if my current approach is inappropriate, should I define a generic concrete stress-strain curve for the concrete?
