Hardened washer
Hardened washer
(OP)
Guys and gals, I am doing a R&D on a connection for a product. We are connecting an A325 1" dia bolt through a very elongated hole (1 1/16" wide). The plate has been modeled on FEA. Now I want to make sure that a standard hardened washer will work for this application. Do you guys know what the yield strength of these washers is?

RE: Hardened washer
The RCSC Specification does suggest using F436 or a min. 5/16" common plate washer in snug tightened slotted connections.
For pretensioned joints or slip-critical joints with slotted holes they require a 5/16" plate washer instead of the F436 washers. They also require here that the plate completely cover the hole.
