NX 7.5 connecting 2 elements nodes without stitching edges

NX 7.5 connecting 2 elements nodes without stitching edges

NX 7.5 connecting 2 elements nodes without stitching edges

(OP)
Hi,

I have looked for a solution for some time now for this issue.
Ive got 2 seperate parts which "touches" together but they do not share an edge - they need to be seperate elements. However, I want nodes to be at the very same place (on their own elemnts' edges). I hope such screenshot will clarify what I mean.
Hope you understood me.
Any ideas?

Regards, M.

Anyone?

RE: NX 7.5 connecting 2 elements nodes without stitching edges

so you want separate elements, yet share the same edge?

Thanks jerry1423,
I want these elements to be seperate elements with their own edges and nodes. I just want to move nodes to be at the same location (I do not want to merge these nodes).
I have found Contact Mesh command in NX however I do not know how to use it. Tried many times, nothing worked. Moving a node "by hand" to another node's location also merge these two into a one - what I want to avoid.

Any ideas? Plese, I really need your help guys!

RE: NX 7.5 connecting 2 elements nodes without stitching edges

Hi,

I suggest following way:
Split the longer edge 2x (using projected Point on edge). Obviously, the upper edge of the lower quadrangle consists of three edges. The middle edge should now have the same length than the lower single edge of the upper quadrangle. Apply a certain mesh density (e.g. number of elements) to both edges of same length. Now you get coincident nodes on the edge. Ensure that the Option "Match edges" is deselected in the 2D meshing Dialog of both meshes!

Hope it helps!

Thanks Frawol,

Your idea works well, however I had to put such "contact" in lots of different places so it would take too much in my opinion - thank you anyway.
I have managed it using "Contact Mesh" option. After selecting edges I was interested in I had to put exact places where shared area would start and end. It worked for me - with problems but still. This way is a lot of faster.

Thanks for your effort anyway.

I consider this post as solved.
