Partial Fixity Software
Partial Fixity Software
(OP)
Hello All,
I would like to get some recommendations from everyone for Software that does Partial Fixity for simple beam analysis.
Our Go-To software is WinBeam, which is obviously pretty much obsolete now.
Here is an example application,
Calculating Reaction on the Side to Body attachment of our floor beam. We would like to apply 50% fixity to the ends, we cannot calculate closed form because we have stanchion beams. Something like this can easily be verified using software.
Thanks,
Michael

RE: Partial Fixity Software
Try asking this question under the Finite Element Analysis engineering Forum
which is in Structural Engineering. It's basic stuff and is covered in R. Roark's
beam equations if you like to do hand analysis with a pocket calculators... the
beams with springs for variable fixity. Oh, do a global search for this subject
here on Eng-Tips. I've been retired since 2000 but NASTRAN is, or was, the code
of choice during the 80s and 90s.
Good Luck,

RE: Partial Fixity Software
1) model the beam as SS (zero fixity)
2) model the beam as fully fixed (100% fixity)
3) for 50% fixity, take the average ...
no?
