On-line Viscosity and Pour Point Measurements

On-line Viscosity and Pour Point Measurements

On-line Viscosity and Pour Point Measurements

(OP)
My Friends,

A project that I am working on has product specifications on pour point, viscosity, viscosity index (which I understand is the ratio of visc at 100F and 40F). My previous experience has been dismal with respect to process measurements on product viscosity. The process is never at the right temperature, and Andrade equation corrections are never good enough- these would sort of defeat the purpose of viscosity index in any case.

Do any of you have experience with equipment which can do these measurements accurately on line. The team knows what they want, but not to the detail of specific vendors and equipment. On this project I would like to get it right, even if it costs more.

best wishes always,
sshep

RE: On-line Viscosity and Pour Point Measurements

sshep,

My experience is a lot like yours, so good luck.

JMW has a lot of experience with on-line viscosity measurement, but he has not posted here in nearly 1 year. He does post at www.cheresources.com these days though. Look in his profile there, http://www.cheresources.com/invision/user/987-jmw/ , and I think you'll find a good reference, http://www.viscoanalyser.com/index.html .

Good luck,
Latexman

Technically, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.

Have you contacted Brookfield Viscometer or Severs Rheometer representatives?
