CAM Software
CAM Software
(OP)
I would like user recommendations on different CAM sofwares for Solidworks models.
What do you all use & why.
We are currently looking at Gibbs CAM, but interested to know what other software (competetition) is available for 2 & 3 axix lathes, and a 4 axis mill.
Thanks in advance

RE: CAM Software
Our company are using MasterCam v9.0 with SolidWorks. The Exportation SolidWorks - Mastercam with PARASOLID is perfect. MasterCam recognizes a lot of geometry, surfaces, solids. Much better than SolidWorks and Pro-E. It´s one of the most confiable CAM softwares.
Perhaps you could contact the MasterCAM American Central to know about it, or in the WWW (www.mastercam.com).
The interface is not of the most extraordinary, but works perfectly fine.
regards,
Timoteo

RE: CAM Software
You mean MasterCAM X?
RE: CAM Software
For what Gibbs does, it does well, but the interface takes some getting used to. But
for making 'non-standard' tweaks to code or posts, you'd wanna stay with mastercam.
Gibbs handles custom tooling, and 'wrapping' a flat part for a quick 4 axis, better than mastercam.
