Frame drop

Frame drop

(OP)
Hi all

Looking for some help with abaqus on performing a frame drop analysis. So far I have managed to set up a simple model where a cube of steel is dropped under gravity and lands on a surface.

The problem I have is when I try to mesh the more complicated frame I can't seem to get it to mesh properly. The frame is about 4x4x4 meters box section which I have imported as a step file. Not sure if this would be easier to do as a wireframe? Anyway what I need is to be able to drop the steel frame 50mm off the ground onto concrete then plot the maximum stresses in the part against time. I can upload the frame if this would help?

Cheers
