Wave Link Subtraction Tool

Wave Link Subtraction Tool

Wave Link Subtraction Tool

(OP)
We use wave link data quite a bit in our shop

For socket head cap screws is there a wat to have the symbolic thread on the subtraction tool and have it transfer to the body that it is subtracted out of, as in the face color

or another way of getting the thread data into the body to use inferred dimensioning, without manually creating the symbolic thread

Thanks

Brian

RE: Wave Link Subtraction Tool

Not that I'm aware of. The 'symbolic thread' is a non-geometric feature and as such does not play any role when performing a subtraction. In other words, subtracting a part with a 'Male' thread will not automatically cause the corresponding 'Female' thread to be created in the solid from which it was subtracted.

Thanks John, I thought that was the case

RE: Wave Link Subtraction Tool

John can you explain how the mold wizard "pocket" command works?

This is a very similar scenario. Is there talk of adding this feature to the standard NX software?

Also using the mold wizard "pocket" feature, is it possible to regulate the tap depth and tap drill diameter? Whenever I use it, the tap depth is full depth, I'd like to adjust it to 2x the screw size. The tap drill diameter would be nice to have follow our company preferences.

Thanks,
Ken

RE: Wave Link Subtraction Tool

Forgot to mention, I'm running NX8 currently. 7.5 had the same response using the command, however.

RE: Wave Link Subtraction Tool

After I responded the the OP I almost went back and mentioned that we have something in NX which might give him what he was looking for and that can be found at...

Tools -> Reuse Library -> Reusable Pocket...

...and while the dialog is open, press the 'F1' button and you'll get the Help files explaining the dialog and how to use it.
