Closed Loop Parallel Cooling for Auxiliary Equipment

Closed Loop Parallel Cooling for Auxiliary Equipment

Closed Loop Parallel Cooling for Auxiliary Equipment

(OP)
This system has multiple pieces of equipment requiring cooling water from a closed loop circuit of fresh water utilizing a FW/SW heat exchanger. Each piece of equipment requires different flow rate and are connected in parallel to each other. Some units are supplied with electrically actuated thermostatic control valves operated by a temperature sensor which monitors the oil temperature on the unit. Other units do not include these thermostatic valves in the vendor package. I assume these valve are needed for the other equipment as well but am unsure if it must be electrically actuated similar to the vendor packages, or if it can be automatically sensing without actuator. Is there a useful reference book with design advice, examples etc which you can recommend for this system? Do you have any advice additional advice or comments?

RE: Closed Loop Parallel Cooling for Auxiliary Equipment

Mostly depends on your manpower operating philosophy. Few valves actually need to have automatic operating capability, unless they are remote or you don't have the personnel on hand to do it.

Also remember that in a multifunctional circuit you may have easy options in regard to providing constant cooling flow and avoid the use of automatic valves entirely.

I hate Windowz 8!!!!
