How to model a 90 deg bent square to round transition duct using sheet metal option?

The loft option works only for the straight transition. Then, how to model for 90 degree transition?

RE: How to model a 90 deg bent square to round transition duct using sheet metal option?

That 90° bent shape is not supported by the NX Sheet Metal module. The Sheet Metal module will only model parts that can be flattened. The only exceptions are 'stamped' features such as Louvers, Dimples, Drawn Cutouts, Beads, etc. However, all of the Tab and Flange features, including Lofted Flanges, nust be 'developable' (i.e. able to be flattened).

if you do a search in this forum and enter square to round you will get some things that should help you, but not necessarily in sheet metal

@ Johnbaker

so we can make a "square to round" solid and that we can use as a punch tool to form a half-part of duct rite?

is there any method, by which we can make a smooth "solid" square to round transition?

What version of NX are you running?

Thankyou so much JohnRBaker :) this is what i really want..

When I am trying to make the transition using swept command, it comes twisted! I moved the control points to untwist, but it is not exactly coming like u did!!

RE: How to model a 90 deg bent square to round transition duct using sheet metal option?

If you want as close to normal a transition as possible, you have to move the four 'points' on the circle until they represent the same 'percentages' as does the four 'corners' of the square, keeping in mind where the zero-precentage 'point' is located on both the square and the circle.
