Dialog boxes and coulmns resetting after restart of NX6

Dialog boxes and coulmns resetting after restart of NX6

Dialog boxes and coulmns resetting after restart of NX6

(OP)
Hi

I use NX6 and I have a problem with settings not being remembered between sessions. The settings that are not remembered are settings in dialog boxes (selection types in the extrude function for example) and columns in part navigator. Every time I start NX I have to rearrange the columns in "Assembly Navigator Properties"

Other things are saved between settings like what buttons should be visible on my toolbar.

What can I do to fix this?

/Tomas

RE: Dialog boxes and coulmns resetting after restart of NX6

As far as the Extrude dialog is concerned, at least in NX 6.0, the only settings which are retained between sessions are the numerical Values for the extents of the Extrude, but not the Start/End options nor the Boolean option or anything that deals with Draft or Offsetting.

As for the Navigator Columns, I believe that information is stored in the registry so you may have to have your systems people make sure that you're still able to write to the Windows registry.

Are you asking this question because something has changed recently? Do you think that more of the Extrude Dialog was remembered in the past but isn't now?

For me nothing is retained between sessions on any feature operation, the numerical values are always default when I shut down NX and start it again. For example I tried on a colleges computer and for him the settings are saved between sessions. At his computer I changed the selection type in the extrude feature from connected curves as was the default value when I opened the feature to face edges and when I shut down NX and opened it again the extrude feature had face edges as the selection type so for him that kind of changes are saved between sessions. He does not have admin rights on his computer.

"As for the Navigator Columns, I believe that information is stored in the registry so you may have to have your systems people make sure that you're still able to write to the Windows registry."

The strange thing is that even if I run NX as admin it dont work.

I recently got a new computer at work.

Try this...

Go to...

Customer Defaults -> Gateway -> Unser Interface -> General

...and near the bottom of the page check to see if the option 'Save Dialog Box Settings between Sessions' is toggled ON. If not, toggle it ON. This will solve the problem of the Dialog not remembering the settings between sessions.

As for the Navigator Columns, I don't know what else to suggest looking at.

The "Save Dialog Box Settings Between sessions" was toggled ON. I tried to toggle it OFF, restart NX and then toggle it ON again, restart NX, but the problem is still there.

Is there a way to see if NX is writing to the registry?

RE: Dialog boxes and coulmns resetting after restart of NX6

It's possible that there is a Group or Site Customer Defaults which are overwriting the User's Customer Defaults. As for the registry, I guess you can look in the Windows registry and you should find entries flagged as to having to do with NX. However, I think we've reached the point where perhaps you next call should be to GTAC and see if they can walk you through some things to try.
