Harp Type Slug Catcher Minimum Clearance Between Storage Fingers

Harp Type Slug Catcher Minimum Clearance Between Storage Fingers

Harp Type Slug Catcher Minimum Clearance Between Storage Fingers

(OP)
Hello all,

I am wondering if there are any CODE or STANDARD requirements for the minimum clearance between the storage fingers of a harp type slug catcher. We are using B31.8 for the piping with a flanged-bolt up assembly. so I assume you would want a few feet of clearance for installation. We currently have about 2 ft of clearance.

Anyone have any other information or suggestions?

Thanks

RE: Harp Type Slug Catcher Minimum Clearance Between Storage Fingers

Not quite sure what you mean by a "harp type" slug catcher, but no AFAIK there are no code or standards for this sort of thing, only practical issues such as minimum gaps caused by standard tee dimensions, non clashing of adjacent flanges, that sort of thing. Codes and standards are there to ensure your item is safe to operate, not how to design it as there are simply too many variables.

A drawing, sketch or photo would be very useful if you post any more queries.

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way

For that limited clearance, be sure you have construction and repair access from both sides and that there will be no issues lifting over one to get to the other. If you have flanges, be sure the flanges clear.
