Centrifugal Vertical Pump Bearing housing Preservation oil leaks.

Centrifugal Vertical Pump Bearing housing Preservation oil leaks.

Dears,
First Post here, hello and thanks for reading, during rust preventive work at storage period, we are facing some oil leaks
( ISO VG 46 oil with CORTEC rust preventive ) on bearing housing for pump A identical to pump B without any leaks as soon as shaft is turning , following vendor procedure requires oil ring lubrication running out the shaft baffles with 2 ¼ handlly turn every week .
what could be the possible reason for the oil leak from API 610 identical pumps , is it a sealing problem ?? Mounting and assembly or mishandling issue chock or what else??
Capacity 15m3/h. HT light naphtha transfer pumps
Head 97 m.
BHP x RPM 6.3 KW x 2920.
Thanks .

RE: Centrifugal Vertical Pump Bearing housing Preservation oil leaks.

Does the vendor procedure provide for storing the vertical pump horizontally?
(probably a silly question... just double checking)

thanks for your interest, Nothing was refering to that on the vendor document , just this morning we found the same issue on others horizontal pump .know we have both the two.

It's not surprising to me that a vertical machine with oil filled beairngs when turns on it's side might leak. We wouldn't normally turn them on their side with oil present unless we have very specific instructions to do so.

Depending on what type of oil baffle( 2100) is being installed, it is likely for oil to leak out at this position if the oil level is above it in the horizontal position. Another possible leakage path is between the shaft and the bearing adapter.
This not a concern. As soon as the oil level is below it, the leakage will stop.
