Feed water pretreatment for steam generation - help me with my unknown unkowns

We are working on a project were steam is generated from CHP exhaust heat. I'm talking to potential suppliers of the feedwater pretreatment.

What I know:
amount of steam generated (lost steam)

What I don't know:
exact water quality, I assume drinking water
local regulations regarding safety measures

What else don't I know that has to be taken into consideration?

RE: Feed water pretreatment for steam generation - help me with my unknown unkowns

read the book "steam " 41st edition , by B+W,chapter 42. Table 1 provides guidelines on required feedwater quality vs boiler operating pressure , or refer tothe ABMA guidelines or the iapws guidelines.

If it is a small unit, then you ar not likely able to justify hiring a plant chemist, so a packaged RO/EDI unit may be used.

Thanks. I actually got a vendor who also supplies the water treatment - one interface headache less.

If you are generating steam at relatively low pressures, boiler water may be allowed far above feedwater TDS quality of city potable water. You may not need pre-treatment, but the vendor of water treatment equipment is probably not going to mention this option.
