5 inch Butterfly Valve on 4 inch Pipe?

5 inch Butterfly Valve on 4 inch Pipe?

5 inch Butterfly Valve on 4 inch Pipe?

(OP)
My boss in his past life remembers using a 5" Butterfly valve on 4" pipe. He has asked me to find the parts to make this happen. Is there a special flange I might use?

RE: 5 inch Butterfly Valve on 4 inch Pipe?

4" to 5" reducer? Sounds like a bit of memory fade to me or he's sent you on a fools errand.

Low pressure water you might find something, but generally a 5" butterfly won't work on a 4" flange as the disc won't turn....

I have seen oddball discs with say 5" bolt holes and then 4" studs welded in the 4" PCD in between, but I don't think you'll find a high pressure / approved version of this.

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
