Clock about center of original feature or instance not center of pattern feature

(OP)
I need to clock every other instance of a circular as well as a linear pattern. The patterns are created using expressions and I am trying to make a template file so manual clocking is not an option. Controlling with a spreadsheet will only clock angularly about the pattern center (angular offset from each instance) or linear offset of each. Controlling it afterward with an instance clock creates an internal position that it apparently remembers (x,y) and future pattern changes (moving the instances) are then clocked about the old x,y position instead of the new instance center; making this method invalid as well.

RE: Clock about center of original feature or instance not center of pattern feature

Have you thought of perhaps creating TWO different Patterns giving the effect that it's a SINGLE Pattern with half the features 'clocked'?
