Creating Equivalent Steel Column From A Reinforced Concrete Column

Creating Equivalent Steel Column From A Reinforced Concrete Column

(OP)
I have an existing reinforced concrete column, and I would like to create an equivalent steel pipe column that I can model in GT Strudl. What would be the method for coming up with the equivalent steel column?

RE: Creating Equivalent Steel Column From A Reinforced Concrete Column

Assuming the conc. column doesn't crack under the various load combinations - match the transformed AE and EI of the concrete column with a steel column of similar properties.

Otherwise, with concrete columns, your properties vary under load per the effective moment of inertia of the column....much more complex and difficult.
