Nonlinear Structural Analysis

Nonlinear Structural Analysis

Nonlinear Structural Analysis

(OP)
HI,

Could anyone explain me how to avoid the Hourglass issue in Finite-Strain Elasticity Analysis. If Hourglass problem is present in the analysis how worst could it effect the results??

RE: Nonlinear Structural Analysis

Second question:
Depends.
First question:
Go to solidmechanics.org via. Google or find hourglassing by going through the lecture notes on the website.
You should grab a decent book to understand the phenomenon, if you are really interested. Abaqus manuals are also an excellent resource.

RE: Nonlinear Structural Analysis

Hi,

I am not an expert at all, but check out the element type you are using. By changing it you can avoid hourglassing.

good luck

RE: Nonlinear Structural Analysis
