4 Axis Machining Rotary Table not turning Continously

4 Axis Machining Rotary Table not turning Continously

4 Axis Machining Rotary Table not turning Continously

(OP)
Hello,

I have been working on a part and have been able to get most of it done thanks to the people here.
I think I'm at the final stage, but I'm stuck at this point. I'm using a post processor I created for this.
After postprocessing, I get the following code at one point.

N1720 X34.18 Z15.32 A359.44
N1730 X34.09 Z15.31 A359.73
N1740 X34. Z15.29 A.02

But my rotary table, instead of moving in the same direction it did before, starts turning the otherway to get the angle referenced in line 1740.
How can I change this and make the rotary table the same direction and proceed to 0.02 from 359.73

Thank You
Ashan Perera

RE: 4 Axis Machining Rotary Table not turning Continously

The last time I ran a rotary 4th axis on the table, the solution for this situation is to program line N1740 with an A value of 360.02

RE: 4 Axis Machining Rotary Table not turning Continously

Is there a shortest path parameter or a 4th axis direction code on your machine?

Regards
Greg

JNieman, Is there a way to replace this automatically for about 2000 lines of code?

Bugie, I simulated this in Vericut and got this result. How can I check if its something with vericut only? or will it be the same in the machine also?

RE: 4 Axis Machining Rotary Table not turning Continously

Unfortunately, the solution I implemented at the time I needed it was crude and not using NX. It was programs written via OneCNC and crazy-enough, I wrote a LISP routine that would find/replace A values > 360 with the corresponding appropriate number. The crazy part was when I had helical cuts going past 360 more than once... that took tricky logic and math.

Anyways, I apologize for not having an NX-relevant solution, I hoped that opening the >360 idea would trigger something. :) Oh well. Good luck.

If you made your post using postbuilder then edit the post from machine tool tab click on the fourth (or fifth) axis and then in the axis limits change the maximum to the limit of your machine.
