Minimum thickness required at pipe ends (at edge preparation location) as per ASME

Hi all

When pipe edges are prepared for welding, the thickness at those ends reduces.
Can the thickness at those edge, can be lesser than minimum thickness required for pipe as per ASME Sec I.
Can we ignore this issue, as it is getting filled with filler material afterwards?

Is there any code case or article or PG addressing this issue?

RE: Minimum thickness required at pipe ends (at edge preparation location) as per ASME

if you will weld-fill it, I see not fault. it's part of material preparation. don't paper-thin it...
