I have a design which needs to meet IEC 60079-11 instrinsic safety. Does anyone have experience calculating the inductance of ferrite beads specifically for IS? I have been told that the inductance needs to be calculated at 1KHz for IS, however, the datasheet for the ferrite bead we are using has information down to 1MHz only. How can I show quantitatively what the inductance is at 1KHz, or how should I go about including beads in the inductance calculations?

You should be able to identify the ferrite grade. From there go to, say, Ferroxcube's website and look for the full data or contact tech support. Failing that you could calculate the stored energy based on a low-frequency ferrite like 3C85, which is intended for energy storage and similar applications, and demonstrate that it would be ok by a significant margin. Most HF ferrites have significantly poorer maximum flux densities than the LF energy storage types, so the result would be fairly conservative.
