sprinkler system vs deluge valve system

sprinkler system vs deluge valve system

sprinkler system vs deluge valve system

(OP)
we have two types of safety systems incorporated in our plant. one is deluge valve system and the other one is the sprinkler system. I have an idea how deluge system works. can any body throw some light on sprinkler safety system and the difference between these two systems.

RE: sprinkler system vs deluge valve system

Hi,
My understanding is,

Deluge valve will open (literally the valve will open) upon detection of fire or manual initiation. Water will comes out on each nozzle on the respective fire area.

For Sprinklers, each sprinkler will be equipped with heat sensitive element. Upon any sprinkler elements detects heat, it will melt or opened, delivering the water through that specific element.

RE: sprinkler system vs deluge valve system

Deluge valve mechanism is using Dry Pilot Actuation.
Using Fusible Plug to activate
Deluge Valve also triggering Sprinkler to activate

Sprinkler Valve mechanism can use either Wet or Dry Pilot Actuation.
Using Heat Sensitive element to activate
