Shallow precast sanitary structure

Shallow precast sanitary structure

Shallow precast sanitary structure

(OP)
Hi everyone,

I am trying to follow ACI 350 to design a shallow grease trap tank (about 9 feet deep with about 6 feet of liquid) but I am not sure what would be the minimum walls thickness and the minimum wall reinforcement according to ACI 350.

Can you please help

Thanks

RE: Shallow precast sanitary structure

Chapter 10.5 correct?

RE: Shallow precast sanitary structure

Looking back at your other posts, it seems you are trying to prove another design wrong, is that what I am seeing?

If you are the reviewer, have them provide calcs, code references and a stamp. If you cant shoot a hole into their design, approve it and move on.

No I want to know for future reviews what is the minimum wall thickness & wall reinforcement required by ACI 350 code?

RE: Shallow precast sanitary structure

Then I think Chapeter 10.5 is min reinforcing correct? usually wall thickness is a prescriptive thickness if design and deflection isnt checked.

Is that also can be applied on precast circular tank, since it is covered by ACI 350 scope - Chapter 1 ?

RE: Shallow precast sanitary structure

Chapter 10 is axial and flexuaral loads. I assume it covers precast. I dont have the code, but a google of the index brings that up.

RE: Shallow precast sanitary structure

I think you are making this more difficult than it has to be. Call your local precast supplier, tell them what you want. You need a 108 inch by 9 foot manhole sealed inner surface, preferably some type of polymer/epoxy coating. Round for cleaning, and a couple holes in it. If you know pipe sizes and elevations they can deliver this with a top slab cut with a hatch. It may come in two pieces and you seal the edge. Also call the plumbing inspector to find out what they want on this trap. Vent?
