FATIGUE

FATIGUE

(OP)
Hey all,

I am pretty new to this forum and to FEMAP too. my work primerily deals with offshore structures. It would be helpful if you could help with me two of my queries.

1) i have a large parasolid file imported from NX and when i use the midurface commend (automatic) my surfaces are at a distance (they are not intersecting) I tried intersect non manifold add and stich. my version is 11.1. i believe the reason is that my surfaces are at the midside of the solids. But i have plates joining from both sides and how to fix this.

2) we have a new project on the horizon which demands fatigue analysis. wold be glad if there are any materials concerning fatigue analysis on NASTRAN. but my primary concern is the point listed first.

RE: FATIGUE

Hello!,
Well, this forum could not be a replacement for training, you need to ask your FEMAP Reseller to give you training to learn how to use FEMAP in a prductive way, here we only can help in a vague form.

Midsurfacing success is critical to create professional FEA models, FEMAP is really prowerful creating midsurfaces to mesh with Shell elements, I suggest to forget the BIG model and concentrate in a small CAD model to understand how midsurface command runs.

Regarding FATIGUE analysis, you need an add-on module to perform Fatigue analysis using "FEMAP with NX NASTRAN" bundle, the one I run is winLIFE, very professional, take a look:

Best regards,
Blas.
