Concrete Stress Analysis

Concrete Stress Analysis

Concrete Stress Analysis

(OP)
A presenter at the SEI Structures Congress this year spoke about FEM analysis of spherically-voided cast-in-place concrete slabs. He mentioned that he used the Von Mises criterion for checking stress combinations for the concrete. I learned in mechanics that the Von Mises criterion was for ductile materials. Thoughts?

RE: Concrete Stress Analysis

This topic has been discussed here previously and so some searching should bring up several opinions. Von Mises as a criteria is used for ductile materials and those that have equal failure in tension as in compression.
