Catia V5 moving/rotating assembly parts while affecting other parts

Catia V5 moving/rotating assembly parts while affecting other parts

(OP)
Hi everyone. In CATIA V5, I am attempting to move/rotate parts in the assembly workbench. I have 3 parts that are "coincidence constrained" through holes. Just like in Autodesk Inventor, I would like to manipulate one of the parts while affecting all the other parts according to the constraints. I don't want to move/rotate one of the parts and have to click "update all" every single time. I want to move a part and directly see the manipulation of the other parts accordingly.

I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

RE: Catia V5 moving/rotating assembly parts while affecting other parts

Hi,
try pressing Shift while move/rotate

-GEL
Impossible is nothing.

RE: Catia V5 moving/rotating assembly parts while affecting other parts

Use the compass tool and multi-selection of the components in the tree to temporarily reposition them within the product structure. You can return the components back to their initial constrained position by updating, or you can keep them in the revised constrained position by modifying the constraints.

RE: Catia V5 moving/rotating assembly parts while affecting other parts

For a simple assembly as you described, you could use the Manipulation tool in the Assembly Design workbench, with the option turned on "with respect to constraints."

Or, a better way would be to use the DMU Kinematics workbench to simulate and analyze the assembly motion.

Thanks for the help everyone! I'll check out the Kinematics workbench.
