OIL storage tank anchoring

(OP)
Hello,

is there any API requirement regarding anchor bolt distance to shell (Oil storage tank)

RE: OIL storage tank anchoring

The minimum distance from the outside of the shell is the minimum chime (2 in.) plus one half of the anchor bolt diameter. This is a practical limit to ensure that it is not required to notch the chime to accommodate the anchor bolt. It is often most cost effective to design the tank such that this dimension is as near as possible to the minimum to reduce the dimensions of the anchor chair required.
