Welding sequence of Annular ring

Welding sequence of Annular ring

Welding sequence of Annular ring

(OP)
Dear Forum members.

Good day.

Urgent request to you for below questions.

1. As contractor QC teams are strongly request for welding sequence to Annular ring.
They said, For weld of annular must be full length weld.

But i dont think so. If we weld full length of annular then annular plate will be bended due to variable reasons(Hot temperature, Shell plates moving..etc)
Weld length shall be 200~300mm is fine.

Can i have any evidence from Code? Is it common practice?

RE: Welding sequence of Annular ring

Get a copy of API-650. There is a specific welding sequence in building large tanks. IMHO, it's a little [a lot] conservative, but it works. Any tank big enough to need an annular ring really needs to be built using the API sequence.
