GDTP-T 2009

GDTP-T 2009

So I've heard that the 2009 version of the certification will come out sometime this year (perhaps November)... I'm anxious to get started with my dtudies and am just wondering what you all think about studying for an exam that isn't yet released first of all, and also, doesn't have clearly defined goals for passing (no body of knowledge requirements as of yet). I suppose I could just concentrate on reading the spec from cover to cover, and use the 1994 version of the test to study similar parts of the new spec, but I wouldn't want to waste my time.

Anyone know the best course of action here?

Didn't the 2009 standard come out in, I don't know, 2009?

TL, he's talking about the certification test itself, which tests knowledge of the Y14.5 standard. And even though Y14.5 came out in 2009, it's taken them a while to rewrite the test questions. (OK, maybe it's been more than "a while," so a little sarcasm is justified. tongue)

That's fine... No biggy. I'm just wondering if anyone's heard of the 'linear method' of study for the GDTP cert. and if anyone knows approximately perhaps, when the new test is going to come out.

RE: GDTP-T 2009

Hello:

Current GDTP Certifications for Technologist and Senior levels, are based on ASME Y14.5 (1994). I am given to understand that by September of this year the certification would be based on ASME Y14.5 (2009).

You should read 1994 Standard along with Appendices referring to 1982 for the changes incorporated.

Best wishes

Thanks for the reply academix, but wouldn't it be a better idea perhaps, especially given the amount of time required to study for this cert. to read the 2009 version from cover to cover? It seems to me that if I study the 1994 version, by the time I'm ready to take the test, the 2009 version will be out and I'll be forced to start over again in a sense. Do you agree?
